Background/History

PVPT staff has been working in the anti-trafficking field, mainly offering Direct Assistance for International Victims of Trafficking, since January 2000, in affiliation with the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), an international humanitarian aid organization However, PVPT was founded as an independent local organization in November 2003.

Since 2002 PVPT Center has diversified its activities into prevention of trafficking with human being field as well by raising awareness of youth, teachers, parents, journalists, government officials, police officers and NGO’s.

Whereas since 2005 PVPT Center has been providing services to local victims of trafficking and has extended the activities also in the field of rehabilitation and reintegration by opening the first Rehabilitation Center/Shelter in Kosova for victims and potential victims of trafficking and implementing long-term reintegration program for assisted beneficiaries.

Mission Statement

PVPT's mission is to help victims of trafficking by:

  • protecting human rights and ensuring the welfare of survivors of violence,
  • raising the level of education and their awareness about human trafficking risks and consequences,
  • empowering and reintegrating them into the society.

The PVPT Center had the honour of being visited by the Norwegian Ambassador of Kosovo, Mr. PerStrand Sjaardstard on October 20th, 2016. During his visit, important issues regarding Kosovo’s current situation with regards to human trafficking and also the challenges that the PVPT Center is facing to offer long-lasting and stable services to victims of trafficking, were disscused. At the end of his visit, Ambassador Sjaardstard expressed that PVPT will continue to have the strong support of the Norwegian Embassy in their aim to fight human trafficking
